The Solution - EICR Testing

An EICR assesses the condition of the fixed electrical installation in a property, identifying any damage, deterioration or non-compliance with current safety standards before it becomes a serious problem.

Why is an EICR important?

Landlords have a legal duty under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 to have a valid EICR in place, and employers have similar duties under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. Many mortgage providers and insurers also expect a valid EICR to be held on file.

What does an EICR involve?

Our engineer inspects and tests the fixed wiring, consumer unit, sockets and switches throughout the property. Each observation is coded by severity, and you receive a full written report confirming whether the installation is satisfactory or requires remedial work.

How often is an EICR needed?

Rental properties require a new EICR at least every 5 years or at each change of tenancy. Homeowners are generally recommended to have one every 10 years, and commercial premises should be tested in line with their usage and risk level.
